De-Clutter Your Spaces

What is Clutter? The answer is different for everyone, however clutter becomes clearly defined once you first decide on the desired function of each space.  For example, ask yourself, "What is the purpose of the family room?"  If it is watching TV, playing games, relaxing, and entertaining, determine which items are needed in the family room to accomplish these specific activities.

For the family room, this might include the entertainment center, movies, and games (current ones you will watch or play again!). Once you determine which specific items are necessary for the purposes of the family room, anything else in that room then becomes "clutter"- at least while it is in that room!

One by one, determine which of these "clutter" items either belong in another room,  need to be stored, or can be gotten rid of.  Divide the room into “bite” size pieces and tackle small spaces first- perhaps start with the entertainment center area then move clockwise throughout the room.

If you want to tackle the whole house, try starting with a small space first- a closet or bathroom is a great first space.  It might take you several weeks or months to get through the entire house but once you do your house will be even cleaner with your regular Carpe Diem "Clean Days" and you will be able to enjoy your space like you want.
